Architecture

Architecture is a blend of art and engineering. That makes it the perfect metaphor for how we should approach life. Unless we take a passive approach and let the river carry us along as it will, life should be an active work, informed by both the heart: Art and the mind: Engineering,

I have had the pleasure and opportunity to build two houses (so far). The first, Pawdab Marsh was of no particular style except what appealed at the time, I suppose it should be called a post and beam contemporary. The second, Latmos, was a very conscious attempt to create a home in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie style.

Like my paintings after masters, Latmos fell far short of the originals but I learned much from the experience perhaps most importantly a deep appreciation of what Wright meant by organic architecture and the aesthetic principle of “more than nature.”

Here is the website I prepared when it was time to put the house up for sale: Prairie Style Home
